About the procedure

The Motiva Preservé procedure

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. The surgeon makes a minimal incision (1.5–2 cm) in the inframammary fold, through which they gently insert the implant into the precisely determined position using specialised Motiva instruments. The natural connective tissue and tissue interfaces are protected as much as possible, ensuring a stable result and a natural appearance over the long term. If necessary, the procedure can be supplemented with the injection of the patient’s own fat to correct asymmetry or to make subtle adjustments to the volume and shape of the décolletage.

Is recovery really faster with the Motiva Preserve method?

Thanks to its less invasive nature, the minimisation of damage to muscle tissue and smaller surgical incisions, post-operative pain may be less severe and recovery quicker compared with some more traditional techniques that involve more extensive manipulation of the muscle. The Motiva Preserve method therefore often allows patients a more comfortable recovery, which is also beneficial for those who prefer breast augmentation without general anaesthesia. However, it is important to bear in mind that the individual recovery process may vary depending on a patient’s state of health and other factors.

The Motiva Preserve breast augmentation procedure

The Motiva Preserve breast augmentation procedure follows precise steps, with an emphasis on safety and achieving the best possible result:

  • You can book your operation following an online consultation with a doctor. However, you must attend a consultation and undergo a pre-operative examination at least one day before the procedure (we will arrange all this for you at our clinic).
  • Preparation of the surgical approach: The surgical approach is often chosen to be in the inframammary fold (the natural crease beneath the breast), where the scar is as inconspicuous as possible once healed. Very small incisions are used, typically around 2.5 to 3 cm, which significantly helps to minimise the visibility of the scar.
  • Tissue relaxation and pocket creation: Once the access point has been created, the space (pocket) for the implant is prepared with the utmost care. Minimal dissection techniques are used. In some cases, special instruments are used, such as a sterile balloon expander filled with saline solution, which gently stretches the tissues and optimises the size and shape of the pocket before the final implant is inserted. In this way, the space is prepared without causing unnecessary damage to the surrounding structures.
  • Placement of the Motiva implant: The actual insertion of the Motiva Preserve implant is carried out with the utmost precision and with a strong emphasis on sterility.

This method often allows breast augmentation surgery to be performed without the need for general anaesthesia, offering the benefits of a quicker recovery and less strain on the body.

Who is a suitable candidate for the Motiva Preserve procedure?

A plastic surgeon always assesses a patient’s suitability for breast augmentation using the Motiva Preserve method on a case-by-case basis during a face-to-face consultation. Generally speaking, however, suitable candidates are women:

  • In good general health, with no active infections or untreated breast cancer.
  • Who have realistic expectations regarding the results of the procedure.
  • Who wish to increase the volume of their breasts, improve their shape or symmetry.
  • Who prefer a gentler and less invasive approach, often associated with a quicker recovery and a more natural result.
  • Also ideal for women considering breast augmentation without general anaesthesia, for example due to health reasons or personal preferences.
  • Particularly suitable for active women who do not wish to have the implant placed under the muscle (submuscularly) and are looking for a more comfortable option with fewer restrictions on movement after the operation.
